How an Extended Warranty Works

An extended warranty gives you peace of mind by helping to reduce maintenance costs. You select the plan, duration, and deductible that fits your needs. During the warranty duration, any maintenance or repairs will be performed by Ford-trained technicians using only Ford-approved replacement parts.

The standard deductible is $100, but you can choose from $0, $50, $200, or disappearing options. A disappearing deductible is waived if the work is performed at the dealer where you bought the warranty. The duration options range up to 175,000 miles or ten years.

Extended Warranty Plans

You have four plans to choose from, and each plan includes everything covered by the previous plans. Let’s look now at what these plans cover.

PowertrainCARE

This plan protects components in your vehicle’s powertrain, the systems that allow it to move. These systems are the engine, transmission, and FWD or RWD. Coverage applies to 29 components in these systems.

BaseCARE

This plan covers 84 components, including the 29 above, and extends coverage to the steering, braking, front suspension, AC, and electrical systems.

ExtraCARE

This plan adds 29 components for a total of 113 protected components in the above systems. It also protects components in your Ford’s high-tech systems.

PremiumCARE

As the ultimate plan, PremiumCARE protects over 1,000 components across all vehicle systems. Coverage is also extended to components in the rear suspension, audio, emissions, and safety systems.

Bonus Benefits

When you choose an extended warranty plan, you receive the services below at no cost for the warranty duration.

Roadside Assistance

If you encounter any problem on the road, expert technicians will be sent to your location. They can change a flat, jump-start your vehicle, provide lockout assistance, or deliver emergency fuel. These services are free, but you must have a spare tire for a tire change, and any fuel delivered must be paid for.

Emergency Travel Expense

If you’re far from home and your vehicle needs repair, you’ll receive up to $1,000, depending on the repair duration, toward the cost of food, lodging, and transport.

Towing Assistance

If you need a tow, you’ll be reimbursed up to $100.

Rental Vehicle Benefits

If you need to rent a car while your vehicle is being repaired, you’ll receive up to $60 per day toward rental costs.
