Engine Diagnostics

The check engine light is the most important warning light on your dash as it illuminates in response to any problem affecting engine performance. Unfortunately, unlike most warning lights, the cause of the problem isn’t immediately evident. A fuel-rich engine, a loose fuel cap, a damaged oxygen sensor, or a blocked catalytic converter are just some of the reasons this light might come on.

When sensors inform your computer of an issue, the computer logs this information with an error code. If your Ford has an illuminated engine light, we’ll use engine diagnostics to identify the problem. This involves connecting an OBD II scanner to your computer to view the error codes it’s logged. Once we have the code, we’ll fix the problem, and the light will go out.

Tire Balancing

Tires wear out due to surface friction but can also be damaged if they’re incorrectly balanced. A correctly balanced tire has its center of gravity located around the wheel hub. This ensures each tread section hits the ground with the same pressure, preventing excessive wear and tear. Tire alignment is perfect when your Ford is new, but this changes over time and should be checked every 5,000 to 6,000 miles.

We attach each tire to our computerized tire balancing matching. The machine spins the tire at varied speeds to mimic driving, and the computer assesses its balance. If any balancing issues are discovered, the computer identifies them, and we’ll add extra weights to correct this. Tire balancing is quick and inexpensive and helps prolong tire life.

Transmission Fluid Replacement

Transmission fluid provides the hydraulic power that allows your gears to shift smoothly and easily. It also cools hot transmission components and protects them from friction damage by covering them in a friction-resistant coating. This fluid slowly loses effectiveness as it ages, providing less hydraulic power and causing issues like slow gear shifting.

Older fluid also loses its heat resistance, and this can cause it to burn. Burnt fluid produces the foul stench of burnt rubber and doesn’t provide any hydraulic power, so your gears won’t shift. We flush the transmission to remove the burnt fluid, and then we reseal the transmission and refill the fluid.
